LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND FRIEND
Sharon Ann (McCormick) Cannarsa, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Birmingham, Michigan, surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, September 29, 2024. She was born March 28, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan.
Sharon’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, Tony, to whom she was married 53 years; her sons Michael and his wife, Taryn; Anthony and his partner, Tiffany; and John and his husband, Tim. She was Nana to Enzo, Jack, Sloane and Hudson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Randy (Mary), Mike (Wendy) and Chris (Denise) Truant; David Cannarsa (Pamela); cousins Gale (Bill) Perkins and Lisa Durocher; along with many friends, including her best friends since 3rd grade, Louise Dodt and Laura Moore.
She was preceded in death by her granny, Elizabeth; father, Edward; mother, Dorothy; and brother, Ron.
Sharon co-founded Systrand with her husband Tony in 1982 and they went on to grow a successful business together where she served as president and mentor to her employees, many of whom were like family. She was also a role model for aspiring female entrepreneurs. Sharon was an inspiration to other cancer patients, and her oncology team’s longest stage IV metastatic cancer survivor. She loved spending time with family and friends in Charlevoix, Michigan and Naples, Florida. She also supported charitable organizations, including those dedicated to Native American causes, having strong ties to her Mohawk heritage from Kahnawake First Nations Reserve.
Funeral Mass Friday, October 4, 2024, 10 A.M. at St. Hugo of the Hills Stone Chapel, 2285 Opdyke Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304. Visitation begins at 9:30 A.M.
Burial immediately following Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 West 10 Mile Road, Southfield, MI 48033.
