Sandra A. Harris Obituary

STAUNTON – Sandra Ann Harris, 62, of Staunton, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Born July 31, 1962 near Buffalo Gap, she was a daughter of Betty (Balser) Harris and the late Houston William Harris. She graduated from Buffalo Gap High School in 1980. Sandra began her career as an LPN at King’s Daughters’ Hospital at the age of 17, and eventually transitioned to Augusta Health, where she spent the bulk of her nursing years serving in the dialysis unit. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Sandra also enjoyed cooking for those around her, so she was often busy in her kitchen until her health challenges mounted.

She was preceded in death by her father, and her brother, Tony Balser.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Swoope are two daughters, Tiffany Losh Yankey and husband John of Mt. Solon, and Lisa Losh Drum and husband Harry of Churchville; a sister, Frances Desper of Staunton; nine grandchildren, Ethan Losh, Madison Losh, Gracie Losh, Megan Yankey, Eston Yankey, Keith Drum, Caylin Losh, Liberty Drum and Harry William Drum II; niece Kim Hewitt and husband Jerry; nephew Boyd Powell and wife Melinda; great-niece Ashley Sharp and husband Ben; and great-great-nephew Samuel Sharp.

A funeral service will be held 2:30 Sunday, October 6 in the chapel of Bear Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jamie McClanahan. Burial will follow in Craigsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Yankey, Harry Drum, Adam Drum, Michael Drum, Jerry Hewitt, and Boyd Powell.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Saturday, October 5 at the funeral home.
