Claude Thomas Wood, age 87, of Pikeville, TN, died Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was born on April 13, 1937 in Lee Hollar in the Sequatchie Valley.
Claude went to business school for bookkeeping and received a diploma before being drafted into the Army. He served for 2 years in Germany and then returned to work on his father’s farm. He and Carol were married in April, 1965. He was a very hard worker all his life no matter what the task. He had many jobs in life, but he always enjoyed being outside and working hard and he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas M. Wood; mother, Ruth Lee Wood; sisters, Joe Ann (Willard) Moore of Manhattan, Kansas and Agnes (Bob) Lee of Anchorage, Alaska.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol F. Agee Wood; son, Sandy Lee (Cindy) Wood of Madison, AL; daughter, Sonya Wood Liddle Smothers of Pikeville, TN; grandchildren, Gregg (Delrena) Liddle of Woodbury, TN, Calandra (Marcus) Ewin of Manchester, TN and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Greg Smart officiating. Burial will be in Parham Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. CDT.
