Nancy Marie Goslin (née Evans), 78, died peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Nancy was born in 1946 to John and Harriet (Bird) Evans in Kalamazoo, MI. Nancy is survived by her husband of 52 years Owen D. Goslin of Cross Village, MI; her children Owen E. (Shihoka) Goslin of Cheboygan, MI and Margaret (David) Goslin of Cross Village, MI; and her grandchildren Alice and Felix. Nancy is also survived by her brother Richard Evans of Indianapolis, IN, niece Jenny Lang of Hagerstown, MD, nephew Fritz (Beth) Lang of Centreville, VA, and many family friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Betsy (Evans) Lang of Malvern, Pennsylvania. 

Nancy graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1964. After receiving her BA and MA in Education from Michigan State University she embarked on a long career in public education, including over thirty years dedicated to Cheboygan Area Schools. She loved helping her students succeed. Outside of the regular school day, she volunteered her time in both before and after-school programs. She welcomed all students -- those who needed extra help and those whose interests extended beyond the classroom. Nancy actively sought ways to bring the world to Cheboygan area students -- by arranging visits from children's authors like Syd Hoff, coordinating Lego Robotics grants, and through the books she curated for classroom curriculum and Battle of the Books.

Nancy was a generous and loving mother. She enjoyed traveling with her children, whether it was a city adventure or meandering month-long road trip. When her children moved across the country, she loved visiting and exploring each new place with them. She cared deeply about their education and supporting their interests outside of school. She opened every door for them that she possibly could.

The Goslin family is grateful to Nancy’s caregivers during her final year as she struggled with dementia, including the staff from McLaren Palliative Care, North Star Palliative Care, Pineview Cottage, and Hospice of Northern Michigan.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, November 1st, 2024 at St. James Episcopal church in Cheboygan, Michigan. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Nancy’s memory to the Cheboygan Opera House for their educational programming.
