Lana Kaye Hughes (Johnson), born on November 26, 1946, in Paintsville, KY, and a long-time resident of Springfield, Ohio, passed away at the age of 77 on September 29, 2024. She is survived by her daughters, Angela (James) Reynolds and Amy (Bryan) Mefford; grandchildren, Brandon (Marah) Mercer, Kasey (Steve) Miller, Shannon Thompson, Gabriel (Payton) Mefford, and Benjamin Mefford; several great-grandchildren; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Doris Hughes, and James Tramel. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Lana was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Hughes; parents, Alvin and Irlene Faye Johnson; in-laws, Clifford and Shirley Hughes; sister and brother-in-law, Virgie and Moses Ray; sister-in-law, Anne Tramel; brother-in-law, Bobby Hughes; and her special friend, Judy Dewire.

Lana was an active member of Eastside Freewill Baptist Church where she found joy in singing and was involved in various church activities. Her hobbies included yard sales, sewing, and decorating.

A viewing will be held at Eastside Freewill Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by the funeral service at noon. Interment will be in Staffordsville, KY. Lana’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
