Charles “Henry” McGalin was born December 12, 1943 in Jasper County, Texas to Charlie Clarence and Jessie Lee (Hobbs) McGalin. He passed away surrounded by his family at his daughter’s home in Evadale, Texas on September 29, 2024. Henry had a love for many things, but if you knew him, you know deer hunting was the top of the list. Next to hunting, having coffee at Joe’s in Buna was his everyday routine. Tina and Tiffany knew that if he wasn’t home, or at Charlene’s, he was at Joe’s. In fact, one year they even exchanged Christmas gifts at Joe’s. Henry loved his daughters and everyone knew how proud he was of them. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of his world. Although born deaf, he had a love for music and could tear up a dance floor. Anytime you were in his presence you were laughing. Anyone who has ever talked with Henry, has heard all of his buck stories. His wish was to make one more hunting season. Henry’s son-in-law David has spent the last month getting things ready for him to do so. We know now, he will end this season killing his biggest buck yet. As his grandson mentioned, he made it to Heaven in time to make the evening hunt. Henry spent his final days at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his daughters, grandchildren, and many others who loved him. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Buna, TX and is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Erma Matlock and Sherry Kellum. Henry is survived by his daughter Tina Cole and her husband David, Tiffany Welch and her husband Griff; his grandchildren Randi Hussey and her husband Derek, Lane Dorr, Madison Cole, Lincoln Welch and Emma Welch; great grandchildren, Braxton Ousley, Hagen and Hudson Hussey; siblings, Charlene Butchee, Jerry Durham and Vivian Crawford and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be held 10-11 am Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel 415 N 4th Street in Silsbee, TX Interment will follow at Morse Cemetery in Buna, TX.
