Robert Michael Farrell, 83, of Throggs Neck and Pelham, NY, passed away on September 29, 2024.

Bobby was born on May 6, 1941, to Kathleen Magennis Farrell and Patrick Farrell, of County Armagh, Ireland. He was the 4th of 8 children and grew up in a house full of love, laughter, and music. He graduated from St. Helena’s High School in 1959. He was dedicated to his job as a building engineer with the Local 30 of the International Union of Operating Engineers, working at Schlitz, Klein’s, Radio City Music Hall, and Jacobi Hospital. He often took the Thanksgiving and Christmas Day shifts so that his fellow workers could be with their families.

He was the rascally and lovable brother of the late Rosemary Steiner, Jerry Farrell, John Farrell, and Eileen Frawley. He is remembered fondly by his surviving siblings, Gene Farrell, Betty Ann Colkin, and Patrick “Faz" Farrell. He was known as “UB” to his adoring nieces and nephews, many of whom found a home with him in the Bronx as they launched their adult lives in New York City. He was a good friend to his many cousins, both here and in Ireland.

His neighborhood friends meant the world to him, from East Tremont Avenue to Long Beach to Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and, finally, Pelham, NY. He loved watching sports, golfing, Irish music, and all the things that make life fun.

For the last 20 years, he was lucky to share a home with his niece, Betsy Clarke, her husband Edward, and their sons, Ryan and James. His life was enriched by the loving care of Sheena Gannon, Michelle Abbott, and his beloved dog, Coach.

Bobby will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial gathering is planned at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home in Throggs Neck from 10:00 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4. All are invited to a luncheon reception at Brewski’s Bar and Grill beginning at 12:00 p.m.
