Helen Johnson Prescott, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024. She was 92 years old and a native of Jackson, LA. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024 from 9am to 10am, with a service to follow conducted by Rev. Tom Cook. Burial will be in Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery in St. Francisville. She is survived by 3 sons, Elmer E. “Worth” Prescott, III and wife, Anita; Irwin M. Prescott and wife, Sally and James P. Prescott, Sr. and wife, Susan. 5 grandsons, James Philip Prescott, Jr., Travis Hebert Prescott, Matthew Ellsworth Prescott, Michael Irwin Prescott and Cameron Henry Prescott. 4 great grandchildren, James Philip Prescott, III; Jacob Remy Prescott, Olivia Grace Prescott and William Ellsworth Prescott. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer E. Prescott, Jr., parents, Senator James Mellard Johnson, Sr., and Rita Leblanc Johnson. A sister, Lydie Johnson DeJean, and a brother, James Mellard Johnson, Jr. Pallbearers will be James Philip Prescott, Jr., Travis Hebert Prescott, Matthew Ellsworth Prescott, Michael Irwin Prescott, Cameron Henry Prescott, Thomas A. Hansbrough, MD and Thomas A. Hansbrough, Jr. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a B.S. in Home Economics and a minor in Chemistry where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She was a faithful member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
