Robert Lee “Bert” “Flapjack” Oscar, Sr. of Waynesboro, Virginia passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024 with his wife at his bedside.
He was the second-born child of Elmer Thomas Oscar and late Joyce Ann (Corbin) Oscar of Craigsville. He is survived by his wife, Tracy (McCutcheon) Oscar of Waynesboro.
Robert is survived, in addition to his father and wife, by his son Robbie Oscar, Jr and wife Cherrie of Staunton; daughters Jessica Dame of Waynesboro and Angel Strawderman of Staunton; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother William “Bill” Oscar of Fishersville; his little sister, Sandy Oscar Sprouse and husband Randy of Craigsville; numerous nieces and nephews including Kristi, Jennifer, Lisa, Cassandra, Allison, Barry “BJ” and Jake; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, paternal grandparents Walter and Mary Oscar, and maternal grandparents James “Nootz” and Beulah Corbin.
Robert was employed by S&W Home Improvements for 47 years. He was a hard worker and he never took a day off. He would do anything for anyone at any time. He was well loved and liked by so many.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 1 at Bear Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2 in Craigsville Southern Baptist Church, officiated by Pastors Tom Quick and Claudette Wilcher. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Cemetery in Augusta Springs.
