Barbara A Koll Obituary

Barbara A. (Johnson) Koll, 95, of Linden Hall, was peacefully received into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Born on January 27, 1929, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Lester Leonard and Rachel “Rae” (Gatenby) Johnson. On August 18, 1951, she married William H. “Bill” Koll, who preceded her in death in 2003.

Barbara graduated from high school in 1947. She and Bill lived in Iowa from 1952-1964, where 5 of their 6 children were born. They moved to the State College area in 1964 for Bill to become the head wrestling coach for Penn State. Barbara worked part-time at Esber Home & Rugs starting in the mid-1970s while raising their six children.

Barbara was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Centre Hall where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Linden Hall Garden Club and enjoyed participating in their pie sale, as her baked goods were always top notch. She enjoyed time flower gardening, reading, quilting, and baking. Of all things this life had to offer her, time with her family and friends were her most cherished moments.

Barbara is survived by her six children, Christopher Koll and his wife, Caron, of North Creek, NY, Sarah Nichols and her husband, Mark “Nic”, of Austin, TX, Amy Glunt and her husband, Jeff, of Bellefonte, David Koll and his wife, Josie, of State College, Michael Koll and his wife, Amy, of State College, and Robert Koll and his wife, Rachel, of Chapel Hill, NC; 10 grandchildren, Justine Koll Pope, Robert Glunt, Jed Koll, Kelsey Blair, Kaylie Koll Hebert, Matthew Koll, Carly Koll, Sarah Koll, William Koll, and Daniel Koll; and nine great grandchildren, Brett, Timothy, and Juliet Pope, Ethan and Adam Glunt, Clara Blair, and Drake, Solomon, and Lucius Hebert.
