In Loving Memory of Amy Gonzales DeLeon
February 27, 1969 – September 27, 2024
Amy Gonzales DeLeon of Manor, Texas, lost her long, hard-fought battle with cancer on September 27, 2024. Amy embodied the strength of a true warrior, grounded by her unwavering faith in God and her boundless love for those around her. Amy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, whose light will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on February 27, 1969, in Austin, Texas, Amy was a vibrant and loving presence in the lives of everyone she encountered. She is survived by her devoted husband, Carlos DeLeon; her loving children, sons Joelle and Julian DeLeon, daughter Angela Gonzales and her husband Chris; and her cherished grandchildren, Haily, Natasha, Anthony, and Michael. Amy is also survived by her mother, Aurora Gonzales; father, Roy Gonzales Jr., and stepmother, Chris; brothers, Roy III and Richard Gonzales; sister, Amanda Gonzales; stepbrothers, Amado and Abram Rocha; as well as an extended family of 32 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Amy had a heart full of kindness and a spirit that radiated joy. She always put others first, ensuring that everyone around her felt included, valued, and welcome. At any holiday or birthday gathering, Amy made sure there was always a small gift for each person to take home—a reflection of her thoughtfulness and love. For family dinners, she always made sure there was a seat for everyone, never letting anyone feel left out. Amy was a dedicated member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Manor, Texas, and her deep Catholic faith was the foundation of her inner strength as she faced her battle with breast cancer.
For the past 25 years, Amy was deeply committed to her career with the Texas Department of State Health Services. She remained passionate about her work until the very end, a testament to her dedication and determination.
Amy's passions also extended to her love for sports. She was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and loved a good fight. First it started with boxing and cheering on Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Julio Cesar Chavez and Oscar De La Hoya. It quickly graduated to UFC fights. Whether attending live events or cheering from home, she approached sports with the same enthusiasm and fierce spirit she brought to every challenge in life.
Family was at the heart of everything Amy did. She cherished every holiday, birthday, wedding, and special occasion, from music concerts to MMA fights. If there was an opportunity to gather, Amy was always the first in the car, eager to attend. One of her proudest traditions was the Villalobos family reunions. She was the first to spread the word when updates were available, encouraging everyone to book their rooms and participate. Amy loved cheering on participants in the talent shows, Bingo games, silent auctions, horseshoe and volleyball tournaments, but she especially looked forward to the dances. She enjoyed the different themed celebrations where she could show off her colorful wigs, and she found joy in creating lasting memories with her family. Amy never met a stranger—anyone who crossed her path quickly became a friend and in most cases they became family right then and there.
Amy’s laughter, love, and light will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest in Peace Amy, until we meet again.
