Brother James Allen Cross was 73, and departed this life Thursday September 26, at his home in Marion County. He was the husband of Henrietta Cross. You may visit the family at 2701 Penderboro Rd. Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held at then Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Marion, SC on Thursday October 3, at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Marion, SC.

Mr. James Allen Cross departed this earthly life on Thursday September 26, 2024 at his home in Marion, South Carolina.  On that night God whispered to his angel it was time to come home.   He was born on September 17, 1951 in Marion County South Carolina to the late Deacon Edward Cross and the late Deaconess Clara Mae Williamson Cross.  He was a graduate of Terrell’s Bay High School.  At an early age he professed his faith

In Jesus Christ and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was an active member until his health began to fail.

He was united in holy matrimony to Henrietta Pierce Cross.  This union was blessed with five children. He was a loving and devoted father and husband.

He spent many of his early years working with the family business.  Later he established his own – Cross Construction/Brick Masonry Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Edward and Clara Mae Cross; maternal grandparents, John Pearl and Ada McCellan Williamson; paternal grandparents, Rev. Oscar and Sarah Cross; one brother, Clarence Cross; and one granddaughter, Aaliyah Crystal Renee Cross.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving, faithful and devoted wife, Henrietta Pierce Cross of 49 years of the home;  a loving and devoted daughter, Tammy Wynette Cross who took care of both parents; five sons: Tyhesh James Cross and Michael Dean Cross of the home,  John (Kashaun) Johnson, Willie Edward (Karla) Cross and  Anthony Jerome (Kelly) Cross;  Three sisters:  Linda (Henry) Spry, Brenda Lee Cross and Mary Ann (Jerry) Williams; four brothers: Willie James (Brenda Faye) Cross, Ernest Levern (Lou Brenda) Cross, Larry Marshall (Mildred Ann) Cross and Johnny Dale Cross; Three Aunts:  Mary Alice (Ullysee) McGill, Sara MaCrae and Minnie Mason, Three Uncles:  Jeremaih (Linda) Williamson, Jerome (Regina) Williamson and Ed (Elizabeth) Cross; ten grandchildren:  Jaquarius Johnson, Kambyn Johnson, Neasha Cross, Ne’Asia Cross, Kimari Cross, Peyton Cross, Kylie Sparks, Jay Cross, Mason Cross and Da’shaun Cross; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
