Shelly Marie Woods Black passed away on September 30, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born on October 10, 1965, in Claremore, OK, to Emmett and Pat Woods. She was a beacon of love and strength to her family. Shelly was a devoted mother and cherished "YaYa" to her two grandsons, nieces, and nephews.
Shelly grew up in Inola and attended Inola public schools. She married Greg Black in 1984, and they had a daughter named Amy. Shelly was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with Amy, watching movies, and shopping. She also loved her work at Jackson Clip, where she worked for several years. Shelly's passion for sewing led her to give handmade gifts to her loved ones. Christmas was a special time of the year for Shelly, as she enjoyed filling stockings with gifts that she had gathered throughout the entire year. She also loved traveling and camping with her family to spend quality time with her loved ones. Shelly's legacy lives on through her daughter Amy Black Simon and her husband Jon Simon, and their two children, Elliott Lee Simon and Henry David Simon.
Shelly is preceded in death by her father, Emmett Lee Woods.
She is survived by her mother Pat Woods, daughter Amy Black Simon and husband Jon Simon, grandsons Elliott Lee Simon and Henry David Simon, brother Rick Lee Woods and wife Angie, sister Kimberly LeAnn Bump and husband Dusty; nieces and nephews, Ricky Lee Woods Jr. and wife Anna, Austin Wayne Woods, Whitney Brooke Joseph and husband Adam, Dustin “Rowdy” Heath Bump, and Hannah Mae Patterson and husband Hunter, Great Nieces and nephews Stella Grace Woods, Ava Brooke Joseph, Thomas Lee Joseph, Harlee Skye Patterson, and Holston Ace Patterson.
Visitation will be held on October 3rd, 2024 from 5:00- 7:00 at Rice Funeral Home in Claremore, OK.
Funeral Service will be held on October 4th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Tiawah Community Baptist Church
