We are celebrating the life of Craig Doran Hunter, a true Renaissance woman. Craig could shoe a horse, build a house, or tile a kitchen. She rode a purple Harley, ran a marathon, administered the Land Bank for over 20 years, won National platform tennis titles as a Paddle Chick, captured blue ribbons at three-day steeple chase events, and cared for any and every two or four-legged friend in need.
In addition to running the riding program at Oldfields School, Craig and a passle of Barn Brats ran The Barn on Madaket Road for over ten years. Craig, a former student at the University of Madrid as well as the Potomac Horse Center, wove lightship baskets and was a prime mover in the creation of Strong Wings as well as Nantucket Ice. A dedicated volunteer, Craig has been honored for her work with NISHA, Cat Trap, and Little Mountain Rescue.
Daughter of Amy-Ann (Suggie) Craig Doran and John Rutledge Doran, Craig is survived by her husband Brad Hunter; her children Jeffry Pollock, Asa Hunter, and Victoria Hunter-Barrett; her two sisters, Jamie Cleary and Dennie Doran, her daughter-in-law Rhonda Pollock, son-in-law Andre Barrett, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
We will be holding a memorial service and a later date and ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Cat Trap of Nantucket. cattrap.org; PO Box 3225, Nantucket, MA 02584
