Beverly Hollan Brunson, 78, was born in Haynesville, Louisiana, to Alvin Hall Hollan and Ruth Myrtle Ware Hollan on January 19, 1946, and passed away on September 20, 2024, in Homer, Louisiana, after a long battle with skin cancer.
Beverly attended Haynesville High School where she graduated in 1964. She was a featured twirler, Miss Claiborne Parish, and a participant in Miss Louisiana Pageant in 1964. She met her husband, John Brunson, while in high school. Their first date was John’s graduation night which led to their wedding in 1965. Beverly really enjoyed volunteering her time as a member of the Oil Patch Pageant committee over many years.
Beverly had many hobbies, but cooking was her passion. She had a wealth of recipes that were loved by so many. As a matter of fact, she loved to make your favorite and deliver it right to your door. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She traveled all over to watch them play sports for many many years. She also enjoyed car racing such as dirt track racing and NASCAR racing, and she never passed up a chance to go fishing. Beverly watched every LSU sport she could find on TV and loved saying, “Geaux Tigers!” Christmas was a favorite for her because she loved GIVING and keeping family traditions alive. She loved her family and friends, but we know she will spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, twelve brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, John Brunson; her two daughters: Michele Brunson Branch and husband Cameron of Argyle, Texas; Kristi Brunson Pike and husband Doug of Homer, Louisiana; seven grandchildren: Tanner Branch and wife Courtney of Rhome, Texas, Tatum Wagner and husband Davis of Magnolia, Texas, Austin Pike and wife Madison of Bienville, Louisiana, Payton Branch and fiancé Morgan of Haslet, Texas, Parker Branch and wife Tayler of Jarrell, Texas, Cole Pike and wife Allee of Haynesville, Louisiana, Reagan Pike of Ruston, Louisiana; four great-grandchildren: Hadleigh and Hayes Branch and Woods and Wylie Wagner: and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at CMMC for the incredible care and compassion shown to Beverly during her last week of life. They owe a special thanks to Dr. Salmon of Homer and all the nurses, Rhonda Shively with Passages Hospice, Dr. Osafo of Ruston, and family friend, Brenda Jones of Haynesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Haynesville Community Church.
