Barbara May Crist, 80, passed away Monday September 16th. She was born March 7, 1944, in Washington D, the daughter of Wallace James Todd, and Francis L. Todd.

She lived many places in her lifetime including Germany, Carolina, Virginia and eventually ended up in SW KS, where her two sons Allen and Dan Crist live to this day. Barbara had a very diverse work history where she worked in a variety of fields. Everything from working in a toy store, pet shops, to managing the Grain Bin, and JC Penny’s hair salon. She also owned her own businesses, a daycare, and her own hair salon in Holcomb Ks.

Barbara enjoyed dancing and loved to paint. She also had a love for animals and over her lifetime owned a wide variety of pets including bucket calves, a horse named Sugar Foot, a honey bear, a kinkajou, parakeets, cockatiels and cockatoo birds, an amazon parrot, and of course cats and dogs but most of all Barbara thoroughly enjoyed being a mom to her two children. She loved to travel with her kids and do things with them, such as horseback riding, teaching them to paint and hosting a house full of kids. She treasures her family and friends and enjoyed telling stories. Later in life she loved reading her bible, making sure her birds were fed and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She made friends everywhere she went. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Allen Major of Garden City, Kansas & Dan Crist Jr, and wife Krystal Crist of Deerfield Kansas. She has 6 Grandchildren, Breanna Griffin, Tynisha Major, Gabriel, Levi, Erica & Bailey Crist, and 4 great grandchildren, Alice, Karrodi, Emery & Madalyn and spent several years as a loving Stepmother to Sara Jones and Darrin Crist.

Memorial Service will be Saturday October 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Deerfield United Methodist Church in Deerfield, Kansas. There will be no visitation. Family suggest memorial contributions be made to Barbara Crist Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St, Garden City, Ks 67846
