Lucille E. Reinking, 95, of Sumner, died Thursday evening, September 19, 2024, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 23, 2024, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate with Rev. Kent Peck officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery, rural Westgate. Visitation will precede services at the Church on Monday starting at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made in Lucille's name to the Sumner-Fredericksburg FFA.

Lucille Eva, daughter of Edward and Martha (Hintz) Hackbarth was born on June 10, 1929, in Algona, Iowa. She was baptized on June 29, 1929, and confirmed on May 24, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Her parents moved to a farm north of Algona in 1930. She lived a humble life through the depression. Her formal education ended when she finished 8th grade at Black Cat #3, Kossuth County, Iowa. Lucille needed to help with all the manual work on the farm, especially hand-picking corn and sowing oats. In her later teen years, she assisted local families with their children, and other domestic work. Lucille was united in marriage to Lorenz Reinking on November 2, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church. She moved to Sumner and began her life as a farmer’s wife. Lucille tended the chickens, fed the calves, picked up rock and helped with harvest. They farmed together for thirty-nine years until ill health caused Lorenz to retire and they moved to town. Her life lessons never ended, and her domestic skills and common sense served her well. Lucille was a long-time member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Circle Member and Officer. She also was a member of Community Memorial Hospital Board, Hillcrest Volunteer, 4-H Leader, and Hospital Auxiliary Board Member. Lucille enjoyed quilting and assisted with the World Relief quilts.

Lucille is survived by two sisters-in-law, Margaret Wiebke of Waterloo, and Iris Hackbarth of Algona; twelve nieces and nephews; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and six God children.

She was preceded in death by her parents in 1982; husband, Lorenz in 2004; brother, Marvin in 2021; and beloved fur babies, Charlie, Gidget and Ashley.
