Joan Kathleen Lavelle Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and profound loss that we share that our beloved (Kathleen) Joan Lavelle aka ‘AJ’ passed away peacefully in Toronto Western Hospital on Saturday, September 14, following complications from a fall.

Joan is lovingly survived by her adoring nieces Donna Modeste and Dianne Banasco, great-nephew and great-nieces Michael (Camille), Mary (Mike), Kayla, and great-great-nieces Ella and Lily, dear friends Joe and Ed, and many other friends with whom Joan shared wonderful moments, meals, bridge, euchre games and much laughter. She will be dearly missed while at the same time, continue to live on in our hearts, and through her stories and memories.

Joan was born to Irish immigrants Cornelius and Catherine Lavelle and was the beloved sister to Peggy, Geraldine, Jean Beattie, whom are all deceased. Joan lived out her Catholic faith daily through her words and actions. Joan was very proud of her Irish heritage, loved singing Irish songs and shared a lifetime of connection with her Breen relatives.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Toronto Western Hospital for their compassionate, attentive and tender care of Joan, as well as the support, expertise and kindness that they provided to the family and friends during this very challenging time. We are also deeply grateful for the very special community at New Horizons Tower Seniors Residence with whom Joan enjoyed fulfilling friendships and connections for many years.

“May the road rise to meet you, and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
