Obituary
Lucy Jo Belcher, 100 of Zeigler, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 6:29 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Herrin Hospital with her dear friends, Maudie and Bill Bell by her side.
Lucy Jo was born October 24, 1923 in Belle Ellen, Alabama to Frank and Lucy (Walker) Belcher. Her parents moved their family to Zeigler in 1926. Lucy Jo graduated from Zeigler High School in 1941. She attended business school in Paducah. She worked at the Benton Public Aid office from 1942-1947. She later started working at the Bank of Zeigler the day after Labor Day in 1947 and retired in 1988.
She was a lifelong member of the Zeigler First Baptist Church, being baptized on April 21, 1935. She was a charter member Delta Theta Tau Sorority.
Lucy Jo is survived by her many friends at Zeigler First Baptist Church; the Bell family, the Clark family and her many friends in the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Doris Parker and Francis Youngberg; infant brother, Frank Belcher, Jr. and very special friend, Glen Hobbs.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton with Pastor Larry Shacklee officiating. Interment will follow in Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery.
Friends and family are asked to gather at the cemetery prior to the services from 10:00 a.m. til 11:00 a.m. for a time of visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zeigler First Baptist Church. Memorial envelopes will be available at the cemetery the day of the service.
