Family will receive friends on Monday, September 30. 2024 at 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 12:30 p.m. at Christian Valley Baptist Church, 3330 Scottwood Road, Columbus, OH 43227. Interment: Glen Rest Memorial Estates.

Mildred Lynn “Sissy” (Hughes) Childs, born to Thomas Hughes and Vivian Williams in Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at the age of 57. A proud attendee of East High School, Mildred was known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering determination to embrace life fully.

Affectionately remembered for her loving heart, Mildred had a passion for fashion and a unique sense of style that inspired those around her. She strived to be the best version of herself, sharing her warmth and kindness with family and friends. She immensely enjoyed her role as a grandmother and adored her grandchildren. Their laughter and joy filled her heart, and she found immense happiness in being an active part of their lives.

Mildred leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion for others, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her resilient spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.

Mildred  is preceded in death by her husband William Earl “Butch” Childs, father Thomas Hughes, Mother Vivian Stevenson Williams, Sister Brenda Cardwell, Brothers Keith Cardwell and James Torrence.

She leaves behind  Children:  Darren Hughes, Johonna Hughes, Danisha Hughes Reyes (Jonatan), Amber Hughes, and Cynthia Childs.

Grandchildren: Adrien Reyes, Riley Faith Hawkins, Ava Lynn Morton, Damon Morton, Mason Hughes, Armon Hughes, Franklin Hogan-Hughes, and Preston Hogan-Hughes.

Brothers: William Cardwell, Brent Cardwell, Eric Hughes.

Sisters: Pamela Stowe, Johonna Lowery, and Valarie Hughes Duncan (Kenneth).

Nephews, Gerald Lowery(Mavis), Leroy McCreary, Keith Cardwell, Brent Cardwell Jr., Keith White Jr /Martyr Ben Ysrayl)., and Eric Hughes Jr.

Nieces: Pamela Lowery, Synerika Jean (Carl), Tashauna White, and Shameka Wiley

Great-Nephews: Christopher Moore, Aunjay Kelly, Saviyon Gore, Mason Lowery Carter Jean, Martelaar Ben Ysrayl, and Juelz Jones.

Great Nieces: Makayla Latimore, Montrea Forrest, Moneasia Forrest, Mariah Forrest, Sienna Lowery and Madison Ferguson.

Aunt Nazaree Scott and first cousins, Darlene Head (Dejuan) and Stephanie Stevenson, in addition to numerous cousins and close friends who she considered family.
