Charity Warren Obituary

Charity Warren, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, in Orange City, FL at the age of 90.

Charity was born on September 8, 1934, to Beatrice Warren and grew up in Sparta Georgia. In her early 20s she embarked on a new journey to New York City. A few years after arriving in New York City she became a mother of 4 and she dedicated her life to raising her children and making sure they were taken care of. As time went on, she put that same love and energy into her grandchildren and subsequently her great-grandchildren.

She loved ice cream and Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip Cookies. She also loved her plants and always had a plethora of them in her house. Cooking was something that she enjoyed and put love into. She made countless homemade meals for her family and made sure everyone ate even if you were not hungry.

Charity is survived by her children Beatrice Whigham and Anthony Stephens. Her daughter-in-law’s Minerva Stephens and Beatrice Stephens. Her grandchildren Beatrice Sharp, Kevin Stephens, Keith Stephens, Justin and his wife Jahnese Whigham, Jordan Stephens, Xavier Stephens, Taylor Stephens and Mia Stephens. Her great-grandchildren Jaylen George, Rielle George, Kayla George, and Charlotte Stephens.

She was preceded in death by her sons Larry Stephens and David Stephens. Her Son-in-law Anthony (Tony) Whigham. Her sisters Geneva, Emma, Katherine, Bernice, and Bessie.

Special thanks and gratitude to:

Edith “Kitty” Harrel for looking after her when she was home in Brooklyn, your care for her helped us tremendously.

The nurses who took care of her and updated her daughter daily.

To everyone who had a hand in helping, watching over and showing concern and care for our mom.

In her memory, we reflect on her favorite scripture:

Psalm 23,

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
