Middlesex, NJ – Glenn A. Grau, Esq., 80, passed away Monday September 16, 2024 at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick with his family at his side. Born and raised in Newark to the late Matthew F. Sr., and Bernadine (Reardon) Grau, Glenn resided in Elizabeth and North Plainfield before moving to Middlesex in 1969.
Glenn graduated from Essex Catholic High School in Newark, earned his B.A. from Seton Hall University in South Orange and his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Seton Hall Law School in Newark. He received a Diplomate Certification in New Jersey Municipal Law from Rutgers University & Institute of Continuing Legal Education in New Brunswick. Having worked for several law firms before going into private practice, Glenn was appointed Municipal Prosecutor of Middlesex Borough. He ultimately retired from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office in New Brunswick as an assistant prosecutor.
Constantly active in the borough of Middlesex, Glenn was a member of the Middlesex Borough Office of Emergency Management as well as the Middlesex Fire Police. He was a parishioner and lector at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and when his sons were growing up he was involved as a den leader for Cub Scout Pack 45 and assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 45. He enjoyed reading, spending time on the computer, and was a Civil War enthusiast.
Predeceased by his brothers Jay and Denis, Glenn leaves behind his loving wife of 58 years; Diane, their sons; Glenn, Jr. of Oregon and Brett of Mountainside and granddaughter Victoria as well as his siblings; Gail Conlon of NC, Thomas and his wife Cheryl of MT, Matthew F. Jr. and his wife Patricia of NJ, Keith and his wife Dodee of CA and Mary Winiarski of NY.
Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral mass will begin 10:30 am at Our Lady Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. A private, family only interment will follow.
