David Gordon “Red” Doty, Sr., 80, of Monterey, IN passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Northwest Health Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, IN. He was born on September 11, 1944 in Logansport, IN to the late William and Ruth [Hunter] Doty. On June 12, 1971, David married Mary Elizabeth Heater at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski, IN. She survives.
David was fondly known as Red to co-workers throughout his life. He worked at Winamac Steel for 30 years until they closed. He also worked for Walters Disposal and Key Waste for several years. Red retired from INDOT in 2003.
David enjoyed playing BINGO and playing the Hoosier Lottery. Years ago, he was an avid bowler. David was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Most of all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. David will be dearly missed.

Cremation will take place at Frain Crematory in Winamac.
The family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 12 Noon - 3 PM EDT at The Pavilion in the Winamac Town Park.
