DURHAM: Glenda Simmons, 76, joined the church triumphant on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Duke Regional Hospital. She was born in Durham to the late Mr. Glenn Curtis Titus and Maude Lea Titus. Before retirement in 2010, she had a nearly 40-year career with CP&L, which later became Progress Energy in downtown Raleigh. She was a charter member of Glendale Heights United Methodist Church in Durham. She was an active member, serving on the Board of Trustees, as well as several other positions in the church. She was best known for her ministry and care for the shut ins of the church. She served as secretary for The Joy Club at Ridgecrest Baptist Church as well.

Ms. Simmons is survived by her son, Tom Simmons and wife Jene; her brother Kenneth C. Titus and wife Carolyn, and nieces and nephews, Matt, Kristen, Michael, and Jonathan, along with many great nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 20th at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. Her memorial service will be Saturday, September 21st at 2 pm at Glendale Heights United Methodist Church, and will be conducted by Pastor Jane Almon (retired) and pianist Amy Davis.
