Cecilia “Cissy” Cahill passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16th, at the age of 82. Cissy was born on September 27, 1941, at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. She spent her childhood years in Astoria, NY, and was a beloved graduate of Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School in Brooklyn, NY.
In 1967, she met and quickly married the love of her life, John Cahill. Together, they raised three wonderful sons, John, Scott, and Jimmy, and built their home in Pearl River, NY. Cissy worked as an accountant for Lehn & Fink Corporation in Montvale, NJ for many years. After her husband, John, passed away on June 5, 1986, she courageously raised her three boys on her own.
Following her retirement, Cissy moved to Lakewood, NJ, where she was lucky to meet her life partner, Jim Donnelly. They enjoyed their later years together, spending winters in Boynton Beach, FL. Cissy took great pride in her Irish heritage, adored St. Patrick’s Day, and developed a passion for golf and bocce ball during her retirement. She was cherished for her loyalty, love for family and friends, and a smile and laugh that could light up any room.
Cissy was preceded in death by her husband, John, her son, Scott, her sister, Patricia, and her parents, James and Eleanor Holmes. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, John (Jennifer) of Ontonagon, MI, and Jim (Beth) of Pearl River, NY, and her nieces and nephews. She will forever be Mimi to her six grandchildren, Johnny, Jackie, Jocelyn, Jillian, Riley, and Emma.
Visitation will be held at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home on Friday, September 20th, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday, September 21 at St. Margaret R.C. Church Pearl River, NY, followed by a luncheon.
