Maryann Vandetti Obituary

Maryann Vandetti, passed away on September 12, 2024, at the age of 98, surrounded by her loving family.

Maryann was born in Denora, Pennsylvania to Martin and Anna Scrbek Socak. At a young age, her family moved to Campbell where she attended Campbell Memorial High School.

She married Walter Rocco Vandetti on October 14, 1945. They moved to New Orleans, Louisiana while her husband was in the Merchant Marines. When they returned home Maryann began working for Benjamin F. Kelly at his Drug Store on Market Street. They had formed a lifelong friendship. When her husband opened his business, Vandetti’s Towing, Maryann ran the office.

Maryann was a member of First Christian Assembly Church in Liberty for many years. She was a member of the Women’s Ministries where she served in different positions, as well as on the committee for World Outreach Ministries. She also was a member of the Epileptic Foundation where she volunteered. She belonged to CFU Lodge 185. She was also a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Anthony of Padua Church in Youngstown.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Deborah Lee (William) Duffy; her son, Gary Walter Vandetti; a granddaughter, Meredith Veronica Duffy (Joseph Kent Jr.); her adopted family, Michael and Stacey Durkin and their children Grace and Lily whom she loved dearly; brother-in-law, Earl Levine and sister-in-law, Nancy Sabella who was her best friend along with Debbie Musser and Hermie Harper. Maryann will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Dorothy Trafan, Rosemary Levine, JoAnn Beshara and her brothers, Paul, Robert, and Joseph Socak.

The Vandetti/Duffy family would like to thank Grace Hospice, as well as her nurses Jeri and Jen and all the angels that took such wonderful care of her at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor Michael Cariglio officiating will be on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Youngstown. Calling hours will be one hour before the service at church.
