Norma Elaine Sammon, age 90, longtime Greenville resident, died early Monday, September 16, 2024 at Meadows by the Lake. She was born June 22, 1934 in Muskegon, the daughter of Harold and Marian (Rehbein) Kienke. Norma loved traveling, especially to see lighthouses, and she loved birds and butterflies and all animals, especially her dogs. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society and the Ray Booth American Legion Post 101 Auxiliary. Norma was a faithful woman and a former member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Her husband, Simeon Robert Sammon, preceded her in death in 1965. She was also preceded in death by her son, Steve Sammon and brother, Ronald Kienke. Norma is survived by her son, Dan (Melanie) Sammon; grandchildren, Erica (Andy), Kelly, Jason, Sarah, Shannon, and Cody; 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her family would like to especially thank the staff at Meadows by the Lake for their compassionate care. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Hurst Funeral Home with visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Private inurnment will be in Frontier Cemetery.
