Pauline Thomas, a beacon of love and faith in her community, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2024, at the age of 89, in Wiley Mission Health Care in Marlton, NJ, with her family by her side. Born on September 25, 1934, in Camden, NJ, to the late Samuel and Sophia Thomas, Pauline was a cherished only child who embraced the world as her family.
A proud graduate of St. Joseph's Grammar and High School, Pauline's dedication to education was evident early on. She graduated in 1952 and continued her academic journey at St. Joseph's Evening College on City Line Avenue in Philadelphia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
Pauline's professional life began at A.N. Stollwerck, Inc., a chocolate manufacturing company in Camden, NJ, where she worked as a secretary to the company president from 1952 until 1976. She then joined the Campbell Soup Company, also in Camden, where she served as a secretary to the Director of the Home Economics Department. In 1977, her exemplary skills and dedication earned her a promotion to secretary for a major executive, a role in which she supervised five other secretaries. Pauline's commitment to her career was only surpassed by her devotion to her family, as she chose to retire early to provide care for her elderly mother.
After her retirement, Pauline continued to give back to her community through her work at St. Joseph's Catholic Church parish office from 2001 to 2009. Her love for her faith was unyielding, and upon moving to Marlton, NJ, she became an integral member of the St. Joan of Arc Parish. Pauline volunteered tirelessly and was instrumental in starting a group rosary at Wiley Healthcare, which is said every Tuesday with the help of volunteers from the parish.
As a lifelong friend of Jeannette (Lang) McFarlane, Pauline became an honorary member of the Lang family, and to so many, she was affectionately known as Aunt Pauline. Her presence was a comforting and familiar embrace to those within her extended family circle.
Described by those who knew her as loving, faith-filled, and intelligent, Pauline lived a life that exemplified these virtues. Her dedication to Mary, Mother of God, was profound, and she channeled this devotion into her every action, enriching the lives of those around her.
Pauline's legacy is one of unwavering support, guidance, and affection. As a mother, sister, and aunt in spirit, she touched countless lives with her kindness and compassion. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of her loved ones and the many people whose lives she touched.
