Sandra Dewitt Anderson, born July 31, 1945, in Winnfield, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Monday, September 16, 2024, in Pollock, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Avis Dewitt; and her only brother, Lynn Dewitt.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ronnie Anderson; her son, Shane Anderson (Charlene); her grandson, Johnnie Anderson (Kelsey); and her granddaughter, Clara Anderson (Preston Parker); and a host of family and friends. Sandy’s light in this world will be missed dearly by each who knew her.

“Sandy” was born in Winnfield, Louisiana, on July 31, 1945. She was the only daughter of Irvin and Avis Dewitt of the Williana Community and little sister to Lynn Dewitt. She attended Dry Prong Elementary School. After moving with her parents and brother to Jonesboro, she attended and graduated from Jonesboro Hodge High School in 1963. Sandy met the love of her life, Ronnie Dale Anderson, while in Jonesboro. Ronnie and Sandy were married on October 1, 1965, at her parents’ home in Williana. A few days after the wedding, Sandy and Ronnie loaded their 1965 Buick Skylark and drove to Naval Station Norfolk to begin their new life together.

Next, Ronnie and Sandy were transferred to Sacramento. She loved to tell family and friends about their friends and adventures in California. Sandy and Ronnie returned to Louisiana in 1967. In 1968, God blessed them with the birth of their son, Shane Anderson. Shane was the apple of his mother’s eye. During the following years, Sandy worked full-time (retiring from the US Postal Service), served in her local church, and cared for her family. Sandy, Ronnie, and Shane had many adventures together throughout the years. Sandy continued the adventures when she became a mother-in-law and grandmother. The family went on camping trips to fun sites, attended school and church events, dyed easter eggs, and played games with the family. She was excellent at finding a unique gift perfect for any occasion. Sandy enjoyed trying new recipes and was an excellent cook. She has blessed many with her special tea cakes throughout the years. Sandy also used her crafting skills to create unique gifts, such as plastic canvas gifts for weddings and baby showers. She also blessed her grandchildren with unique gifts, such as a Plastic Canvas doll house complete with furniture for Clara and a plastic canvas racetrack for Johnnie.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the church or a charity of your choice.
