Donald Lee LaBelle Obituary

LaBelle, Donald

Howell, Michigan

His Legacy… Donald Lee LaBelle, 78, passed away on September 16, 2024.  He was born on May 17, 1946, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Oliver and Opal (Workmen) LaBelle. Donald married the love of his life, Nancy (Roe) LaBelle, on December 21, 1994, in Howell, Michigan. A true outdoorsman at heart, Donald found joy in life's simple pleasures—whether it was fishing, hunting, or camping with his family. Those moments in nature, he created lasting memories for all lucky enough to share them with him. He was also a dedicated and loyal American Legion Pinckney Post 419 member, where he forged lifelong friendships and gave back to his community. As a servant to his community, Donald worked as a fireman with the Putnam Township Fire Department for 20 years. Known for his dry sense of humor and his knack for making people laugh, Donald had a tough exterior but was a gentle and caring man on the inside. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, using his impressive handy skills and knowledge of maintenance to assist anyone in need. Donald was also an artist in his own right, known for his unique handmade turtle shell clocks crafted from the shells of snapping turtles, which he gifted to delighted friends and family. His creativity and craftsmanship left a lasting impression on everyone who received one of these special treasures. But above all, Donald was a devoted family man. He loved his family deeply, especially his children and grandchildren, who were the true light of his life. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

His Family… Donald will be missed by his loving spouse, Nancy LaBelle; his children, Ron (Katie) LaBelle, Heather Teegardin, Tom Teegardin, Jason (Melanie) Teegardin, Nicole (Jeff) Ewald; siblings, Gordon (Karen) LaBelle, Susan (John) Harmon-Steinbacher; grandchildren, Wyatt Teegardin, Hailey Ewald, Aubree Teegardin, Mara Teegardin, Jackson Ewald; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Oliver and Opal LaBelle, and daughter, Anne Marie LaBelle.
