E. Darlene MacNeal, 72, of Waverly passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, September 16, 2024.
She was predeceased by her parents, Walter W. and Mildred E. Lynch Smith; and her brother, Edward L. Sides.
Darlene is survived by her son, Michael MacNeal of Caton NY; her daughters, Jennifer Horton (Todd) of Athens, PA and Jyl Fletcher (Gabe) of Vestal, NY; her siblings, William Smith (Kathy) of New Albany, PA, Linda Westbrook (Gary) of Lockwood, NY, John Smith (Kasey) of New Albany, PA and Susan Smith Martin of Dallastown, PA; her grandchildren, Michael MacNeal, Shelby MacNeal, Haylie Horton, Tyler Horton, Kayla Fletcher and Alana Fletcher; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Darlene was born at home in Forksville, PA and she graduated from Sullivan Co. High School in 1970. After High School, she went to Williamsport Community College and obtained her LPN.
She was employed at Robert Packer Hospital and Tioga General Hospital for many years.
Darlene lived for 46 years on Waverly St. in Waverly, NY. In years past, Darlene's hobbies were helping her neighbors, watching Nascar while drinking a Bud Light and always listening to the radio. In more recent years, she would watch her favorite soap opera, General Hospital, the evening news, and the evening game shows. Although Darlene was not an active member of a Church, she had faith and believed in the power of prayer.
A time of calling will be held on Friday, September, 20, 2024 from 10 to 11 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York. A funeral service to honor Darlene’s life will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, New York with Rev. Anne Bey Canfield officiating and burial to follow at Smith Family Cemetery in Forksville, PA.
