In Loving Memory of Juan Ramón Morales Leiva

Juan passed away in New Jersey on September 12, 2024, at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Juan's journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength, resilience, and joy. He was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.

Juan was a man of God and lived with unwavering faith and spirit.

Juan was born on April 24, 1962 to Rumaldo Morales and Elisa C. Leiva Landaberry in El Paraiso de Copán, Honduras. After graduating from high school at La Renovación, he received a college degree in Communications from The Naval Academy of the Armed Forces of Honduras in 1980 and was a Marine Specialist. After the Navy, Juan moved to Tegucigalpa and became a talented design carpenter.

In 1983, Juan met and fell in love with Eva Luvinda Mejia, and they married in 1985 before relocating to New Jersey with their son Rene Alberto Trujillo and two daughters, Esther Betsabe Morales and Daysi Rubi Morales. Their family life was filled with so much love, happiness, and laughter.

Juan retired earlier this year as the longest serving Security Officer at the Repauno Port & Terminal. He was loved dearly by his co-workers and he served with deep honor. He previously retired in 2023 from his second job as a security officer at Reading Terminal Market where he loved interacting with the vendors and meeting new people.

Juan enjoyed spending his free time with his family. He loved birthday parties, going to the beach and museums, being in nature, and watching sunsets by the river.

He loved action movies, including the Fast & Furious (all of them) and Indiana Jones. He could always be found working on his cars, doing projects around the house, gardening, and thrift shopping at Berlin and Cowtown, NJ. In 2023 he got his boating license and recently started new hobbies of woodcarving and acrylic painting. Juan enjoyed being active, learning, and was always looking forward to exploring new things and having new adventures.

Juan was predeceased by his parents Rumaldo and Elisa, and his siblings Moises Contreras Leiva, Zoila Morales Leiva, and Arnaldo Saneth Morales Leiva.

Juan is survived by his loving family including his wife Eva Morales, son Rene Trujillo, daughters Esther (Jacqueline) Morales and Daysi Morales, and two granddaughters Madison Pagoada Moncada and Arianne Trujillo. He is also survived by his siblings Ricardo (Isabel) Contreras Leiva, Jacobo (Digna) Contreras Leiva, Manuel (Lila) Morales Leiva, Hilda (Jose) Rodriguez Leiva, Elder (Digna) R. Morales Leiva, Rumaldo (Bertha) Morales Leiva, Rosa (Ildefonso “Poncho”) M. Muñiz, and Sonia (Elvis) E. Martínez.

Juan will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, joyful spirit, bright smile and laughter, and the immense impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

The funeral service to honor and celebrate Juan's life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Bell-Hennessy Funeral Home, 420 S. Main St., Williamstown,.

Throughout his life, Juan made efforts to help people experiencing homelessness and continued to give his time and support to people in the Philadelphia area.

En Memoria Querida de Juan Ramón Morales Leiva

Juan falleció en Nueva Jersey el 12 de septiembre de 2024 a la edad de 62 años, tras una valiente batalla contra el cáncer.

El recorrido de Juan tocó las vidas de muchos, dejando tras de sí recuerdos atesorados y un legado de fortaleza, resiliencia y alegría. Fue una inspiración para todos los que lo conocieron y amaron. Juan fue un hombre de Dios y vivió con una fe y un espíritu inquebrantables.

Juan nació el 24 de abril de 1962, hijo de Rumaldo Morales y Elisa C. Leiva Landaberry en El Paraíso de Copán, Honduras. Tras graduarse de secundaria en la escuela La Renovación, obtuvo un diploma en Comunicaciones en la Academia Naval de las Fuerzas Armadas de Honduras en 1980 como Marino Especialista. Después de su servicio en la Marina, Juan se mudó a Tegucigalpa y se convirtió en un hábil carpintero de diseño.

En 1983, Juan conoció y se enamoró de Eva Luvinda Mejía, con quien se casó en 1985 antes de mudarse a Nueva Jersey junto con su hijo Rene Alberto Trujillo y sus dos hijas, Esther Betsabé Morales y Daysi Rubí Morales. Su vida familiar estuvo llena de profundo amor, felicidad y muchas risas.

Juan se jubiló a principios de este año como el Oficial de Seguridad con más años de servicio en el Puerto y Terminal Repauno. Fue querido grandemente por sus compañeros de trabajo y sirvió con gran honor. Anteriormente, se había retirado en 2023 de su segundo empleo como oficial de seguridad en el Reading Terminal Market, donde disfrutaba interactuar con los vendedores y conocer nuevas personas.

Juan amaba pasar su tiempo libre con su familia. Le encantaban las fiestas de cumpleaños, ir a la playa y a museos, estar en la naturaleza y ver atardeceres junto al río. Disfrutaba las películas de acción, incluyendo todas las de Rápidos y Furiosos e Indiana Jones. Siempre se le podía encontrar trabajando en sus coches, realizando proyectos en la casa, jardinería y comprando en tiendas de segunda mano en Berlin y Cowtown, NJ. En 2023 obtuvo su licencia de navegación y recientemente comenzó nuevos pasatiempos como la talla de madera y la pintura acrílica. Juan disfrutaba estar activo, aprender y siempre estaba listo para explorar cosas nuevas y tener nuevas aventuras.

Juan fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres Rumaldo y Elisa, y sus hermanos Moisés Contreras Leiva, Zoila Morales Leiva y Arnaldo Saneth Morales Leiva.
