Patricia L. (Black) Capps, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away in her home surrounded by family on Monday, September 16, 2024.
She was born August 9, 1937 to Earl W. and Virginia R. (Everett) Black in Kansas City, Missouri.
Patricia married John E. “Jack” Capps on August 20, 1960 and they were married for 53 years before he passed away on July 21, 2014.
She was a teacher for 30 years. Throughout the years, she taught at Storm Lake Iowa, Benton High School, Neely Elementary School, and Lafayette High School.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Missouri State Teacher Association and Home Economics Club.
Patricia played Marimba in high school and college band.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include her children, Mike Capps (Penny), Lynne Ward (Bruce), and David Capps (Jennie); grandchildren, Jennifer McRae (Kevin), Noah Ward, Amber Ward, Amy White (Jeremiah), Ryan Komer, Amanda Ueligger (Joe), Fisher Capps (Katie), Maddie Ward, and Cameron Maag (Trevor); great-grandchildren, Jack Ueligger, Alex Ueligger, Lilly Capps, and Elijah Capps.
