WEST, John Kenneth (Jack)

February 26, 1941 – September 15, 2024

With profound sadness, but with many wonderful memories, we share the passing of our dearest Jack on September 15, 2024, after a brief and compassionate stay at Bradford Valley Community Care. Thank you to all the outstanding staff who were so caring and friendly. Jack was the beloved husband of Anne(Longstreet) for 55 years and a cherished Father to Ida Mae, Sara (Steve), Mark (Angela) and Joe (Olga). He was a proud Grandfather to Nicholas, Larissa, Jacob, Emma, Kennedy, Talon, John and Peter. Jack grew up in Newmarket with his parents Art and Mae West, along with his siblings Rod, Maureen, Rose Ann (predeceased), Pat, Bud and Linda (predeceased), and went on to spend his entire life living in Newmarket. Jack spent his career as an incredible teacher and music consultant for York Region. He had a genuine love for the school of life and immersed himself into every subject. History; he was a wealth of knowledge regarding Newmarket’s history and enjoyed sharing his memories over a cup of coffee and engaging with the Newmarket Historical Society. Music; he was a music lover and spent much of his life as an amazing saxophone player for the Newmarket Citizens Band. English; he was an avid reader with an unmatched curiosity. Physical Education; he enjoyed fishing, lawn bowling and playing around with his children and grandchildren. Arts; he found his love for art in the talented hands of his beautiful artist wife, Anne.

To our treasured Jack, thank you for being the ultimate family man. You were a humble, kind and compassionate man. A great friend to all and a truly fascinating person. Your warmth and guidance have enriched our lives and all those lucky enough to have crossed your path. You are loved beyond measure.

Please join us at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket, Ontario, for Visitations being held Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 6pm until 8pm, and Friday, September 20, 2024, from 10am until 12pm, and a Celebration of Life Service being held Friday, September 20, 2024, at 12pm, with a reception to follow.
