Gail Wilkins, eternally 29, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2024. A native of Gum Neck, NC, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Scott Wilkins, Jr.; parents, Cecil James and Ida Mae Sawyer; sister, Ida Mae Beasley; and brothers, Ervin Sawyer, Jack Sawyer and John A. Sawyer. Gail retired from Tidewater Community College. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church, TCC Bonko Group, Loyal Order of the Moose Portsmouth Lodge 898, and the Beasley Senior Citizens Center.

Gail is survived by two daughters, Debbie Willis and Terri Wilkins; son, William S. “Bud” Wilkins III and wife Ronda; sister, Linda McCampbell (Ben); five grandchildren, Jennifer Brown (Roger), Jonathan Wilkins (Ciara), Rebecca Wilkins (Mike), Daylin Wilkins and Reva Wilkins; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
