Barbara L. Rigg, 87, of Snow Shoe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Centre Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Bellefonte. Born on February 25, 1937, at home, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Fye) Carlson. Barbara was united in marriage with Leonard J. Rigg on April 21, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Snow Shoe. Leonard preceded her in death on January 27, 2017.

A proud 1955 graduate of Snow Shoe High School, Barbara was a devoted member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe.

Known for her exceptional baking skills, Barbara was celebrated for her delicious bread and created a loving, nurturing home for her family. As a dedicated stay-at-home mom, she embraced every moment spent with her children and later with her beloved grandchildren. She eagerly looked forward to babysitting and supporting her grandchildren in all their endeavors. Her life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her family, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

Barbara is survived by her six children: Michael G. Rigg of Bradenton, FL; Wanda S. Park-Wilberding and her husband, Robert, of Snow Shoe; John A. Rigg and his wife, Lori, of Pine Glen; William L. Rigg and his wife, Nicole, of Bellefonte; Robert D. Rigg and his wife, Barbara, of Bellefonte; and Leonard J. Rigg and his wife, Tracy, of Clarence. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Naomi Wolfe of Runville. Barbara was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her sixth great-grandchild.

Preceding Barbara in death were her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Judy Rigg, grandchild Jessica Rigg, great-grandchild Grace Gesell, and eight brothers and 5 sisters.

In accordance with her wishes for privacy, there will be no public visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Queen of Archangels Parish Chapel in Snow Shoe, with Father Michael Wolfe officiating. Burial will be private.
