Alpha "Ray" Reed, aged 92, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, at Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Kentucky.

Ray was born on March 8, 1932, in Paducah, Kentucky, to his late parents, Worthy and Flora Thompson Reed. He embarked on a life marked by service, compassion, and skills that touched many lives. Serving honorably in the United States Navy, Ray later dedicated his life to working on the assembly line in the automotive industry at Budd Company in Gary, Indiana. His strong work ethic and commitment to quality were evident in all he did. A devout man, Ray was a cherished member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Greenfield, Tennessee. His love for the Lord was the foundation of his existence. He was also a talented craftsman, using his construction skills to build his own home and actively participating in the construction of his friend’s house and his beloved church.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delores Reed nee Donohoo; two daughters, Donna Kay Sims of Gilbertsville, Rhonda Fay (Tony) Tauber of Hamlet, IN; three sons, Mikeal Ray (Mary) Reed of Central City, Steven Euel (Teresa) Reed of Gary, IN, Randell Lee Reed of Indianapolis, IN; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his four sisters, five brothers and one granddaughter.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery in Calvert City with Bishop James Trull officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Life Celebration Center of Filbeck-Cann, 1003 Poplar Street, Benton, Kentucky 42025.
