It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Charles H. “Chuck” Tracy announces his death on September 12, 2024 following a long courageous battle with mantle cell lymphoma.

Born in 1942 and raised in Grandview Heights, a suburb of Columbus, OH, Chuck excelled in academics and athletics. He was an elite swimmer, winning many Ohio state awards and captained his high school team as a Senior.

Chuck started college at Miami University in Oxford, OH, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He transferred to Ohio State University, where he graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1968.

After graduation, Chuck began his career practicing veterinary medicine and surgery before transitioning into the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. He joined Burroughs Wellcome Company in Raleigh, NC, overseeing the training of veterinary sales representatives and then became Midwest Regional Manager of Hill’s Pet Products. In 1979, Chuck began an accomplished tenure with A.H. Robins Company in Richmond, VA, leading veterinary pharmaceutical sales.

In 1992, Chuck co-founded Delmarva Laboratories, Inc. which developed veterinary pharmaceutical health care products. After helping build Delmarva to become a successful, national business that was ultimately acquired, Chuck retired in 2003.

Chuck married Mary Young Chinn of Hague, VA in September 1999, residing together on the Lee Hall family farm. Chuck was a member of Cople Parish Church, serving as Junior Warden for two terms.

Chuck cared deeply for his family and friends, loved raising his children, spending time with his grandchildren, supporting several charities and philanthropic endeavors, playing golf (highlighted by four holes-in-one) and rooting for his beloved Buckeyes (Go Bucks!).

He is survived by his wife Mary Young, son ErIc Brandt Tracy, brother Jeffery (Debra) Tracy, sister-in-law Elizabeth (Roger) Tracy, and three grandchildren, Madeline Judith (Maddie) Labate, Genevieve Iris Tracy and Gordon Charles Tracy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Wahlquist and Roger W. Tracy, as well as his first wife Judith Ann (Judi) Graber Tracy and daughter Kimberly Wahlquist (Kim) Labate.

A service will be held on Saturday, October 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Yeocomico Episcopal Church in Kinsale, VA. Following the service, the family will receive friends at their home, Lee Hall. In lieu of flowers, please give generously to support the Cople VFD, P.O. Box 51, Kinsale, VA 22488.
