Randall Jones “Meatball” Sexton, Sr., age 81, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at NHC Healthcare of Anderson.

Born August 19, 1943, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Marcus Gordon Sexton, Sr. and Ruth Jones Sexton. He was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher James Sexton; sister, Shirley Sexton Floyd and brother, MG “Sonny” Sexton, Jr.

He was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church until his health declined. He was a choir member, chairman of deacons, chairman of building and grounds and many volunteer groups. He worked on the grounds at Hospice of the Upstate was also a member of the Good News Sunday School Class. He served as a board member for the Center Rock Fire Department and on the advisory committee for West Anderson Water District.

Meatball loved to fish, camp, golf and sing with his family. He loved the Lord, his family and his friends. All those that knew him loved him back. He would help anyone that needed his help.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Selma Richey Sexton; son, Randall J. (Beth) Sexton, Jr.; sisters, Gloria Sexton Stone and Suzanne Sexton Cartee (Eddie); brother, Roger Dale Sexton; special daughter-in-law, Trina Sexton Sherman; grandchildren, Kalli Sexton Queen (Logan), Cameron Sexton (Mackenzie), Caroline Elizabeth Sexton; great grandchildren, Will Queen and Avery Sexton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm at New Prospect Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Dr. Tony Smith and Rev. Tom Turner officiating.
