Shirley D. Massey (Kays), 84, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on July 19, 1940, in East St. Louis, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of the late Walter and Corlinda (Tisdal) Kays.

Shirley was a devoted member of Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church in Granite City, where her faith and dedication were evident to all who knew her. Shirley had a sharp mind and enjoyed challenging herself with crossword puzzles. She also loved staying connected with family and friends through Facebook, delighting in their photos and updates. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her fondness for camping and spending time in nature. A talented cook, Shirley’s kitchen was always filled with the aroma of delicious meals, and she took great joy in ensuring her guests left with full stomachs and warm hearts. Her memory will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved and cherished her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Edward Massey; her three sisters; and two brothers.

Surviving are her four daughters, Linda (Bob) Brimm, of Granite City, Illinois, Pam (Brian) Schuelke, of Granite City, Illinois, Brenda (Jeff) Johnson, of Goshen, Indiana, and Melanie (Thad) Wheeler, of Killen, Alabama; her grandchildren, Matt (Kristina) Brimm, Josh (Jennifer) Brimm, John Schuelke, Michelle Schuelke, Lauren Johnson, Zach (Jessica) Johnson, Alexis (Marcus) Gutierrez, Ruger Wheeler, and Remington Wheeler; her 12 great grandchildren, her brother, Bob (Sharon) Kays; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church with Pastor David Brimm officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
