Donna Jean Morgan Obituary

Donna Jean (Edwards) Morgan, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, aged 70 of Bluff Dale, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 12, 2024.

Donna was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 18, 1953 to Dalvin "Buster" and Jean (Wann) Edwards.  She grew up in Paluxy, Texas attending school in Tolar where she played basketball and rooted on the Rattlers as a cheerleader.

In the summer of '71, Donna traveled with her aunt and uncle to Arkansas and had a chance meeting with the future love of her life Danny Morgan.  A forever love bloomed over correspondence of sweet letters.  Danny quickly moved to Texas to pursue their relationship in person.  After Donna graduated from Tolar High School in May of 1972, the pair married that following fall on October 6th.

After a brief stint in Fort Worth, the newlyweds moved back to Arkansas where Danny went to work on the family farm, and Donna went to study nursing at Vocational Technical College in McGhee, Arkansas.  Upon completing her studies to be a License Vocational Nurse, she went to work at Dermott Hospital in Arkansas.  Her experience ranged from obstetrics to the emergency room and everywhere in between, and she sure loved arriving in style in her powder blue VW Beetle.  The couple also welcomed two sons, Derick and Donnie.  Eventually the little family moved back to Texas in 1986 and Donna continued working as a nurse for a local doctor in Granbury and later serving as a school nurse in Granbury Public Schools.

Throughout her life, Donna kept her eyes focused on the Lord, devotedly attending church and studying God's word.  For many years you could see her multiple weekends a month bundled up in her seat watching the life of Christ play out on stage at "The Promise" in Glen Rose.  Donna maintained a strong connection to her family and roots in Paluxy, Texas.  She spent countless days mixing up her signature coleslaw in tubs for fish fries down on the river.  It sure was the best coleslaw you ever tasted, but she never could tell you just how she made it other than to say she just threw things in until it tasted right!  Donna also adored the holidays and always filled her home with hundreds of decorations spread throughout the house and tons of homemade candy and bridge mix on all the hard surfaces in the kitchen.  Her happiest place, though, may have been going on her many travel adventures with Danny, and she thoroughly enjoyed basking in the sun and sea on their many cruises.

Donna was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mom, Mother-in-Law, Aunt and Grandma.  She was always ready for Rylah and Cooper to come stay a while.  Donna was also a steadfast dog Mom over the years to many a four legged canine friend including most recently her beloved Izzie and Zoie.  She was a faithful friend to many and more often than not, if you called the land line you'd find it busy, sometimes for hours, as she visited with her loved ones - especially her first friend and big sister Rita.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Dwayne and Benny Edwards.  She is survived by her husband Danny, her son Derick (and wife Jessica) of Early, Texas, her son Donnie of Granbury, Texas, grandchildren Rylah and Cooper, also of Early, her sister Rita (Edwards) Rudolph of Bluff Dale, Texas, Father and Mother-in-law JH and Corene Morgan, Brother and Sister-in-law Anthony and Dee Dee Morgan, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friend

The family will join with friends and family for a time of visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024 at The Wiley Funeral Home Event Center Chapel in Granbury, Texas to be followed by a funeral service 11:00 a.m..  Graveside and interment will be held at Brooks Cemetery in Paluxy, Texas.
