Marion Young of Port Colborne passed away at the age of 94 on Thursday, September 12, 2024 with her loved ones at her side. Marion was predeceased by her husband Gerald Young and by her four siblings, Orten, Glenna and June and George. Lovingly remembered by her children Calvin Young, Leah Parker and Debbie Hemmerling and her devoted son-in-law Barry Hemmerling. Beloved Grandmother of Riley Parker. Marion was born on June 5, 1930 in Kilmar, Quebec to Bond and Nellie MacLeod. She married Gerald Young in June 1949 and moved shortly thereafter to the Niagara Region where they raised their family. She was very creative craftsperson indulging in crocheting, knitting as well as creating ceramic and porcelain pieces and many other crafts. Also, a prolific baker (especially at Christmas), her cookie jar was never empty and there was usually more than one type of pie. Her Sunday dinners were a permanent memorable tradition. She was an expert snowmobiler and owned her own machine. She and Gerald made many snowmobile adventures in both Ontario and the Laurentians in Quebec. Over the years, they also enjoyed many extended RV vacations throughout Canada and the USA. Our family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You for the kind and compassionate care provided by the staff at Rapelje Lodge, Welland. As per her wishes, there will not be a funeral. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region (alzheimer.ca).
