Theodore C. Lenox Obituary

Theodore Clarence Lenox, 73, of Dixon, died on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at his home. Ted was born June 6, 1951, in Dixon, the son of John and Ruth (Lempke) Lenox. He was known as “Handy Man Ted” of Dixon. Ted was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling, where he served many roles through the years. He was also a member of the Friendship Lodge Masonic Center in Dixon. Ted enjoyed being outdoors and loved hunting, working on cars, and collecting family tractors.


Survivors include one son, Ted (Christie) Lenox Jr, of Crossville, TN; two sisters, Carolyn Klinker, of Wichita Falls, TX, and Donna (Stanley) Todd, of Morrison; three grandchildren, Katelyn (Jon) Holt, Jessica (Trevor) Smaglik, all of Crossvile, TN, and Ted (Jessica) Lenox III, of Dixon; seven great grandchildren, John, Austin, Ventura, Eliana, Ruby, all of Crossville, TN, and Ted IV, and Lyla, of Dixon; one niece, Amy Otto, of Albuquerque, NM; two nephews, Scott (Teresa) Otto, of Dixon, and Aaron (Mary) Otto, of Wichita Falls, TX; and his beloved fur baby, “Lincoln.”


Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and one niece, Cheryl Irvin.


Visitation will be held from 9:30-11am, on Monday, September 16, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home in Sterling. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am, with Pastor Dennis Owens officiating. Cremation rites will then be accorded. Private graveside service will be at Sugar Grove Cemetery at a later date. 


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.
