Joy B. Hopkins Obituary

Joy B. Hopkins, born on December 18, 1956, in Alamance County, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, in Randolph County at the age of 67.

Joy dedicated over 35 years of her life to serving others as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Her compassion and dedication to her work left a lasting impact on those she cared for and worked alongside. After retiring from her long and fulfilling career, Joy devoted herself to homeschooling her beloved grandson, Eric Landon Hopkins, guiding him from his early education through to his high school diploma.

In her leisure time, Joy found joy in reading books and solving jigsaw puzzles, activities that reflected her love for knowledge and attention to detail.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin Mansell and Rosa B. Shore Mansell; her uncles, Jesse Shore and Gaston Shore; and her cousin, Larry Shore.

She is survived by her loving husband, George B. Hopkins, Jr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage since their union in South Carolina in 1980. Joy also leaves behind her son, John Boone (Crystal Spivey), and her daughter, Bonnie Gail Hopkins. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Eric Landon Hopkins, Takoda Hopkins, Lucas Hopkins, Halie L. Boone, Shalya Boone, and Zavier Boone, as well as her great-grandchild, Hayden Boone.

Joy B. Hopkins will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her kindness, and her gentle spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
