LOUISE RICE GRADY

            Mrs. Lousie Rice Grady, age 101, of 3913 Cross Keys Hwy., Union, widow of Lewis Grady, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 12, 2024.

            Mrs. Grady was born in Union, October 18, 1922, a daughter of the late Will Clough Rice and Lona Mae Humphries Rice. She was a graduate of Cross Anchor High School and had formerly worked at Shirley’s Flower Shop. She was the oldest member of Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church where had taught Sunday School, VBS and served on the Flower Committee. She was happiest working in her flower garden, sewing, quilting or cross stitching.

            Surviving are three daughters, Katie G. Allen of Spartanburg, Peggy Watson of Union and Alice “Sissy” Beam of Kings Mountain, NC; a son, James L. “Sonny” Grady and wife Louise of Cross Keys and a brother, James “Jim” Rice of Cross Keys. She is also survived by grandchildren, Scott Beam and wife Dina, Tommy Grady, John Grady and wife Tammy, Vonda Ballew and husband Chris, Ann Marie Alexander and husband Tommy, Robbie Watson and wife Michelle; a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Alice R. Benjamin, Helen R. Brown, Lucille R. Byers and Connie R. Young and two brothers, William “Bill” Rice and Donald “Don” Rice.

            The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Ellen Sagar Nursing Center for the care given to Mrs. Grady during her time there.

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

            Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday at the church prior to the services.

            Grandsons will serve as the active pallbearers.

            The family will be at their respective homes.
