Patti Harmon, a shining light of color, creativity and love, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, at Lake Huron Medical Center. Born on March 25, 1934, in Evanston, Illinois, she was the cherished daughter of the late Francis Harmon and Ruth (Hixson) Norton. Patti's vibrant spirit and passion for the arts left an indelible mark on the world, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Patti's life was a rich tapestry woven with the love of her family, the arts, and her community.
She is survived by her children, June (Edward) Whittamore-Phillips, Mark Stockhausen, and Beth (Jay) Stahl. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Lee (Kellie) Brumbaugh, Katie (Blake) Elliott, Aron Stockhausen, Ryan (Tess) Stockhausen, Jimmy (Becca) Arnold, and Joshua (Faith) Stahl, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Jack, Reese, Brooks, Pierce, Ceasar, Jackson, Josiah, Jason, and Finley. Patti's brother, John (Phyllis) Norton, will also hold dear the memories of their shared laughter and love.
Patti's professional journey was as dynamic as she was. She was intriciate in design and running the Fine Arts Theatre at St. Clair County Community College along with the Macomb Center for the Performaing Arts. She continued her theatre journey with the Norris Center in Chicago. Patti was the original founder of The Barn Theatre in Port Sanilac.
Patti's talents knew no bounds; she was a professional touring puppeteer, captivating the hearts and imaginations of both young and old with her vast artistry. The arts were Patti's lifeblood. She was a theatre major who not only mastered her craft but also shared it generously with others. Her love for the arts was matched only by her love for all things Irish.
Patti's interests were as eclectic as her talents. She had a fondness for the excitement of the horse races, which started when her family regularly took her to the races in Chicago at a young age.
Patti touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of passion, creativity, and joy. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the laughter of her family and the countless lives she enriched. Patti's spirit, like the characters she brought to life, will continue to inspire and entertain, reminding us all to embrace life with the same love and vibrancy she did.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Memorial-Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, MI 48060. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Port Huron.
