Deacon Bernard Mayes 72 of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, has left an  "INDELIBLE" mark on our hearts. Although he is already sadly missed, we will continue to Celebrate his Life and Legacy!

The Body will lie in state Friday September 13, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Roundtree Napier and Ogilvie's Columbia Funeral Home

Deacon Bernard Nathaniel Mayes was born August 18th, 1952 to the late Thomas Mayes Sr. & Tennie Mayes. He transitioned from labor to reward on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee after a brief illness.

Bernard was a man of many talents, whose smile and infectious laughter was known throughout Maury County and beyond. He loved to sing, dance, talk, and listen to all genres of music. He was educated in the Maury County School system, receiving his elementary education at Clarke Training School and his high school education at Hay Long High School.

Bernard married his wife, Deborah Joyce Mayes on May 25, 2024.

Deacon Mayes accepted his calling as a Servant for the Lord at a very early age. He was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Nebo M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Joseph T. Green. He served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a friend to many and never met a stranger.

Bernard worked for Maury Regional Medical Center for many years. He also worked for IB Tech in Mt. Pleasant, TN for several years, until his health failed.

Remember His " INFECTIOUS SMILE" & PASS it ON!!

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Mayes, Sr. and Tennie Mayes, Thomas Webster (son), Thomas Mayes, Jr (brother), Patricia Brown (sister), Christine Austin (sister) and Lisa Porter 

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Deborah Joyce Mayes, his sons, Chris (Renee) Mayes, and Vincent Gooch; daughters, Erika (Derrick) Martin, Yvette (Montrae)Osborne, and Renay Webster. ( Grandkids; Karyssa Mayes, Janai Mayes, Bi’Shara Martin, D’Monte (Dareain) Martin, Areanna Martin, Jacayah Webster, Traeston Osborne, and Maleah Osborne. Great-grand kids. Sisters; Ruby (Lawrence) Orr, Ethelene Mayes, and Brenda (William) Dawson. ( Brothers; Frank (Irish) Mayes and Clyde (Berlee) Mayes and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives and friends.
