Manor Lee Smithson

Manor Lee Smithson, 83, of Ridgeville, IN, passed peacefully surrounded by his family, on September 9, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born in Winchester, IN, on January 27, 1941, a son of the late Edith Verle (Sharp) and Rex Lacy Smithson. Manor was a 1959 graduate and proud Ridgeville Cossack Basketball Team Member. He was the husband of the late Jeanne Ann (Reno) Smithson and with her co-owned the Blue Lantern in Redkey, IN. Manor was formerly employed by Broadway Trucking, a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #507 in Ridgeville, IN, and Local Teamsters Union #135. He enjoyed playing his trombone, collecting clocks, playing cards, watching IU, the Reds, Colts and fishing trips to Canada. Manor was a very social man, who could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything, never met a stranger and could be quite the story teller at times. He leaves behind his loving children; Tony Smithson (Joyce), daughters Lori Cantrell (Tony), and Amy Gilland; sister Kaye Uptgraft (Dave); grandchildren Jordan Smithson (Kylie), Jacob Smithson, Craig Cantrell (Tiffany), Courtney Marchino (Brian), Brett Gilland, Jaylen Riddle (Kodie), Dakota Gilland (Ally) and six great grandchildren. Manor was preceded in death by his parents Rex and Edith Smithson, and wife Jeanne Smithson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 2-4 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Ridgeville Chapel. A celebration of life service will follow at 4 PM with Pastor Danny Hines officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Hopewell Cemetery in Farmland, IN. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sons of the American Legion Post #507 in Ridgeville, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Ridgeville Chapel.
