Steve Stanley Vansa Obituary

Steve Stanley Vansa, 85 of Temple, TX died surrounded by his family on September 9, 2024. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 14, 2024, 10:00am at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak. Burial will follow in the St. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 6:00-8:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.


Steve was born in Cyclone, TX in 1939 to John and Annie Vansa. He attended Catholic School before going to work on the farm and later at Artco Bell from 1962-1997. He married Mary Carolyn Kachtik at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak, TX on August 15, 1959. He served in the National Guard Reserve.


During his years of retirement, you would find Steve outdoors. He loved takin care of his cows, going fishing with his granddaughter, Tiffanie, and deer hunting. From the time the sun rose until the sun set, he would be occupied outdoors.


Steve was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Vansa; his siblings Emil Vansa, Anton Vansa, Albina Vrazel, Mary Ann Vrazel, Tony Mitchell, and great-granddaughter, Murphie June Bartek.


Steve is survived by his wife, Mary Carolyn Vansa; daughters, Pamela Barabas and Brenda Garza and her husband Angelo Garza; his grandchildren, Zachary Vansa, Ashley Bartek, Destry Garza, Tiffanie Barabas, Justina Cazares, Alec Garza, Gabby Davis and Audrey Curlee and 16 great-grandchildren.


Pallbearers will be Alec Garza, Manuel Cazares, Randall Curlee, Zachary Vansa, Chance Bartek and Ronnie Affolter.
