Vernon Lee Hendricks, age 91, passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus, in his sleep on September 9, 2024, at Cobblestone Crossing with his loving wife, Wilma by his side. He entered this life on December 6, 1932 in Dugger Indiana. He was a proud resident of Sullivan County and graduate of the class of 1950 from Sullivan High School. Vernon proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer. Vernon was united in marriage to his true love and lifetime partner Wilma Chloe Taylor on April 07, 1956 in Linton Indiana. He was a well respected Banker and longtime employee of Tom Brown Savings and Loan, which later became Mutual Federal Savings and Loan, he was also a Real Estate Broker. 

Vernon is preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann Walters and son, Michael Hendricks.

Vernon was very outgoing and loved exploring and traveling the world. Vernon and Wilma went on many trips throughout the country and abroad. With a favorite place being Australia. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren Jessica and Kyle. He also enjoyed coin collecting and going to gun shows with his close friends. Vernon always had the ability to make anyone smile. Family always looked forward to holidays with Vernon, wondering what brain teaser he would bring to the table.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilma Hendricks; daughter; Polly and her Husband Eric Gloe; Granddaughter Jessica and her Husband Christopher Ramsey and son Kodiak, along with a Grandson, Kyle Hendricks and wife Jessica and daughters Lola and Jayda. 

 Family, friends, and others are invited to reminisce and honor the life of Vernon Lee Hendricks, on Saturday, September 14, 2024 with visitation from 11:00 am. until the time of services at 1:00 pm. at  Holmes Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor, Ron Riggs officiating.  Burial will follow at Center Ridge Cemetery. Military honors will be given by the Sullivan County Honor Guard.
